it felt like i knew you…
An ongoing intervention enacted on New York City subway trains.
Seated beside strangers, Ferrandi focuses her attention on the space between herself and the person next to her, attempting to mentally and emotionally re-sculpt it from the guarded space between strangers into the softer space between friends or lovers.
When that shift feels complete—when the stranger beside her genuinely begins to feel familiar—Ferrandi rests her head on their shoulder and waits to see what happens.
The project explores how physical space between strangers can be softened with intention, shifting from distant to intimate through small acts of vulnerability.
